ITS Texas supports TxDOT’s
2025 Safety Blitzen campaign

From John Gianotti, PE ITS Texas President:

"ITS Texas has always promoted increased safety using technology. As the newly elected ITS Texas President and retired TxDOT employee, I have been asked by George Villarreal, Director of the TXDOT Traffic Safety Division if ITS Texas will help spread TxDOT’s Holiday Safety message. ITS Texas knows that technology saves lives – we also know that we must each do our part to keep our highways safer during the holiday season. Please visit the TxDOT website Holiday Season for more information on how you can help make this a safe holiday season for your family and friends. Drive Sober. No Regrets."

From George Villarreal (TxDOT Dir. of Traffic Safety Div.):

"As we approach the end of 2025, we are encouraged by the continued downward trend in traffic fatalities. This year, we have the possibility of achieving fewer than 4,000 fatalities—a milestone not seen since pre-COVID. If we maintain our current rate, we could end the year at approximately 3,800 fatalities.

To help us finish strong, we are launching the Safety Blitzen campaign to remind the traveling public about safe driving practices during this busy holiday season.

Your partnership is vital. As industry leaders, you play a key role in promoting safety across Texas. We invite you to join us in amplifying this campaign by sharing our messages through your communication channels and networks. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and continue the downward trend in fatalities."
